Mfg: Lane & Co. Height w/lid: 11 1/4" or 11 3/8" (some variation between jars because of lid fit). Marking: Into the clay on three lines...note period at the end (c) 1950 LANE & CO LOS ANGELES. One of my jars also has a "3" and another has a "7" in addition to the mark above. Color inside jar: White Note: this jar has been reproduced by "J.D.". The reproduction is about an inch shorter (10 3/8") and reads as above on the bottom (including the period).

There are a number of sheriff jars that have no airbrush. I was told a story that artists were paid by the piece and that during lunch and breaks, they would sometimes sit outside and paint with a brush while away from their equipment. |
